Don’t ever use wax for surface finish when it comes to wood flooring. Sometimes if you spot the problem too late and it goes too deep, replacing the boards might be your best option.
To deal with minor scratches, just rewax if it’s a wax finish floor and buff.. Surface finishes can be treated with touch-up kits made for the purpose. You’ll find these kits at most of the specialized shops. It will have too. Stains caused by foodstuff and chunks should be blotted lightly with a slightly damp cloth and then scrapped off carefully so as not to damage the surface. Use of plastic tools for such an eventuality gives better results.
You should take immediate remedial action if a wax floor gets affected by certain oils or greases as they may cause severe damage to such a floor. Use home varnish cleaning for this. In case of a floor with a wax finish, soak up the material thoroughly and clean the spot with a clean dry sponge before finally wiping off the residue with a clan cloth. Depending on the severity, you may have to do it more than once. You could get over the stains by softly rubbing the affected area , using mineral spirits and tri-sodium phosphate on a piece of clean cloth.
